isnt this just the most darling little lady? this print was titled 'gossip'.
just incase anyone was wondering what i might look like. ps, i look so awkward in any photograph that isnt a selfie. my wedding photographs will be selfie-format.
last week thursday i took the opportunity whilst in london for the textile show, to visit my favourite museum, the fashion & textile museum.
they had an exhibition on called 'artist textiles' which showcased the work of many artists that had been translated into textiles
its possibly one of the most inspiring exhibitions ive been to ever as it really helped me understand textiles in a way that is deeper than what is taught at university.
its helped me understand that there is more to pattern than a basic repeat. which seems like common sense, but theres a deeper understanding to it.
i also was intrigued to see that artists such as picasso had work that was translated to textiles.
Some of my favourite artists from the exhibition are: Ruth Reeves, Vanessa Bell, Bernard Adeney, Phillipe Julian, Matisse, Marcel Vertes, Salvador Dali, Patrick Heron, Eduardo Paolizzi (my new found love), Joan Miro, Ken Scott, Raol Dufy, Warhol and my babe, Zandra Rhodes. - to name a few.
an excellent exhibition! This post is picture heavy, but is only like half of what i photographed!
theres an exhibition later in the year on mexican art and Frida Kahlo, and ive got to make sure whatever im doing, wherever i am in the world, i attend!
